Three Aussie teams at RobotX 2018

There are three teams from Australia participating in this year’s RobotX Challenge on Oahu, Hawaii. RobotX is a highly complex robotic competition that focuses on autonomous surface vehicle platforms and sensors.

This year, students are challenged to design, build and deploy an autonomous vehicle that will “listen” for and follow underwater signals, navigate obstacles, scan for codes and find totems.

We are wishing all these teams the best of luck with this monumental challenge!

Bone-eating worms discovered

It is fascinating to learn what new and exciting creatures scientists are still discovering in our oceans!  And how fun that some of these incredible bone-eating worms were named after ROV pilots, ROVs, and even Jabba the Hut.  Full article at: Phys.org 08may18

Worms in the genus Osedax grow on the bones of dead animals on the deep-sea floor. In this case, the worms are growing on the vertebrae of a dead whale. Credit: MBARI Bone-eating worms on whale carcass (credit MBARI)
