Amazing to learn that cuttlefish are so SMART! This research from the University of Cambridge shows that cuttlefish pass a (modified) Stanford Marshmallow Test, designed to test understanding of delayed gratification in young children:
Streaming live from underwater Batemans Bay
We were just running a quick test of sharing live video from a BlueROV2 in Batemans Bay (yes, underwater!) via Zoom. We saw some incredible sponges, coral fans, ascidians, and a nudibrach which we don’t catch site of too often:
And then our ROV pilot spotted this amazing Southern Knight seahorse, clinging to a sea tulip – WOW

2021 MATE Competition in ON
The student MATE ROV Competition is happening for 2021! This year, the “client” is us – the global community – and the request for proposals (RFP) is simple: design and build a remotely operated vehicle and the necessary sensors and tooling to tackle the real world problems of plastics in our ocean, climate change’s impact on coral reefs, and the consequences of poor environmental practices on our inland waterways.
