Remote Underwater Exploration
The US’ National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released ROV video and still images of wreckage from a cargo plane that crashed off Hawaii on July 2nd:
The wreckage is too deep for divers to reach so ROV/submersible recovery plans are being made to further investigate the cause of the dual engine failure.
So good to see ROVs routinely in use in commercial applications like underwater asset inspections. Here is another example of a company in Holland that recently added ROVs to their “drone” fleet.

On June 11th, Michael Packard, a lobster diver in Provincetown, Massachusetts, had one of those truely unheard of experiences – he was swallowed and then spit back out by a young humpback whale. He was diving for lobster when “it tried to eat me”. Very reminiscent of the story of Jonah.
